That’s because the Italian-American carmaker has introduced a free Apple Music trial with every new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, and Ram purchase when the vehicle is equipped with Apple CarPlay™ smartphone integration.

Stream a Variety of Music.

Apple Music is a service that allows you to stream a variety of music for $9.99 a month. It will automatically give you access to Apple’s extensive 30 million song library, from country and classical to hip-hop and pop. Currently, it has a reported 36 million users, 30 million of which are in the United States alone. By including this free trial with Fiat Chrysler vehicles, the music subscription service hopes to gain market share over its competitor, Spotify.

This year-long promotion is set to begin on May 1. It will cover a six-month subscription to the service, though if you already have a subscription, you can receive three months’ worth of the service for free.

Strategic Vision Total Quality Index Recognizes FCA

When we buy almost anything, we are always pitting quantity against quality. Quantity is the amount of money we have to spend. But how do we measure quality? According to Strategic Vision, it is what they call the “total experience.” This includes problems that customers might have with the automobile.

But as Strategic Vision points out, “modern and efficient manufacturing” makes it so that if you base a measure of quality on the number of problems a vehicle has, these days you are still dealing with a huge number of vehicles. That’s why they also take into account “over 155 specific aspects of the customer’s experience.”

After over 46,000 customers’ scores were tallied, the highest corporate Total Quality score went to Fiat Chrysler America. Strategic Vision Senior VP Christopher Chaney said, “It’s hard to not be in admiration of the turn-around achieved by FCA (Chrysler) company employees.”

The Strategic Vision Total Quality Index is a respected measure in industry quality. The company describes itself as a “research-based consultancy.” They’ve been in the business for 35 years.

2016 Ram Heavy Duty Capability Wins Three Awards


We all know that person that excels at everything, always winning awards and getting promotions. Well, in the automotive industry, that person would be the 2016 Ram Heavy Duty. Raking in awards left and right, the Heavy Duty recently added three more honors to its substantial list.

According to Chrysler, the 2016 Ram Heavy Duty capability earned recognition Best-in-class Power, Towing Capability, and Payload Capacity. Between the 1500, 2500, and 3500 models, the Heavy Duty is one of the most capable trucks in the world.

“Ram maintains leadership in all three pickup segments offering best-in-class fuel efficiency, best-in-class towing, best-in-class power and best-in-class payload,” said Bob Hegbloom, President and CEO of Ram Truck Brand. “Ram continues to break records in the most important consumer-driven titles of the pickup truck market and we’re not slowing down.”

With up to 900 lb-ft of torque, a 31,210-lb towing capacity, and up to 17,980 lbs in payload capacity, the Heavy Duty is no slouch. If you want a truck that can get the job done no questions asked, you want the 2016 Ram Heavy Duty.

Chrysler’s Degrees@Work Program Offers Free College Tuition to Its Dealership Employees

Not to be outdone by Starbucks (who announced last month that it would offer free college tuition to its baristas), Chrysler has announced that it too, would offer a four-year college education to any of its 118,000 U.S. dealership employees, for free.

The degrees will be offered to employees as a no-cost benefit, and will include tuition, fees, and even book expenses. The degrees will be offered through Strayer University, which offers bachelor’s degree courses that can be completed entirely online.

“Many of our dealers have expressed concern over the availability of talent to fill open positions due to business growth and turnover in their stores, especially in metro markets,” said Al Gardner, Head of Dealer Network Development, and President & CEO of the Chrysler Brand, FCA US LLC in a news release. “Our goal is to position our dealer network as the ‘employers of choice.’ Our collaboration with Strayer demonstrates our focus on building our dealers’ hard-working employees’ skillsets to help them perform at an optimal level while also investing in their long-term success.”

The program will roll out in phases, beginning with dealerships in Chrysler’s Southeast Business Center, which includes up to 356 Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and FIAT dealerships in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Employees at these dealerships are able to take advantage of the Degrees@Work program today.

“Dealers tell us that education is a benefit frequently-requested by their employees,” Gardner continued. “With the increasing cost of a college education, offering free college degrees without the burden of debt presents a significant value that we are pleased to provide and that differentiates us from our competitors. It will certainly help us attract and retain strong talent.”

MAMA Designates Chrysler 200 Family Vehicle of the Year

The Midwest Automotive Media Association, otherwise known as MAMA, is a non-profit group composed not only of automotive journalists but also other industry professionals. Every year they hand out a variety of awards, one of which is the Family Vehicle of the Year. To qualify, a vehicle must have four doors and be priced under $50,000.

For 2015, the Chrysler 200 took the crown. In response, Al Gardner, President and CEO of the Chrysler brand, said in a press release that the company was “delighted” by this award. He outlined all of the family-friendly features with which Chrysler bestowed the Chrysler 200—features that undoubtedly helped the sedan win, such as “a class-leading available all-wheel-drive system,” “60 safety and security features,” and its overall “clever design.”

Who better to judge the merits of an automobile than automotive journalists? They not only spend all of the livelong day thinking about automobiles, they also regularly test-drive the things, and are many times the first people to do so.

The MAMA president highlighted probably the most significant aspect of the award; that is, that many of the judges have family themselves.

Chrysler 300 Returns to Heritage Styling

Who’s ready for a throwback? Chrysler is. For the first time in four years, the Chrysler 300 is getting some updates. Part of this is what the design team calls heritage styling. The model’s front and rear fascia will be throwing back to the more classic 1955 and 2005 designs. In addition, the interior will see more technology. The starting price will remain the same, ranging from $32,000 to $43,000 depending on the model. There are a few mechanical changes as well, but nothing huge.

With a base Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine putting out 292 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque, this large sedan moves. If that isn’t enough power under the hood, try the 300S model which comes with a 300 hp version of the V6. Still not enough? Tack on the optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that puts out an impressive 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. In the V6 models, fuel economy hits 31 mpg highway and 19 mpg city. New Chrysler UConnect System Gives Consumers Smarter Features

For many consumers, staying connected with the outside world while driving is an important feature to look for when car shopping. Because of this, Chrysler has introduced the new Chrysler Uconnect System, which takes connection one step further than its competitors.

This new system includes a smartphone app that gives the customer the power to control his car, even if he is not in it. With the touch of a button, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep owners will be able to schedule a health report, locate their cars, and send destinations to the navigation system without typing it in via touchscreen. The car can even send an alert for any critical maintenance issues that need attention right away!

Chrysler debuted the new Uconnect System and app at the 2015 CES earlier this month, adding the app to other data-connected services inside FCA cars, including stolen vehicle tracking, Pandora, and Yelp. Chrysler’s December Sales Were Amazing

For Chrysler Group, now known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), 2014 was a great year that ended on a particularly high note. Almost every division of the company saw sales gains, with some models seeing triple-digit jumps.

Jeep had its best December ever with a 19% increase over December 2013. Chrysler’s December sales were also remarkable with a 53% increase—the best December since 2007. Leading those sales was the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan with a jump of 187% and its best December sales ever.

“Our best December sales in a decade pushed our full-year sales over the 2-million unit threshold for our best annual sales since 2006,” said Reid Bigland, Head of U.S. Sales, in a statement. “Last year marked our fifth consecutive year of annual sales growth in the U.S., and once again, we were the fastest-growing automaker in the country.”

In total, 11 FCA vehicles set sales records for the month, including three Ram models, three Jeep vehicles, the Chrysler 200, Dodge Dart, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Journey.

For FCA as a whole, sales were up 16% over 2013 and marked the fifth year in a row for sales gains.

Chrysler and Interscope Records Make a Splash During AMAs

Who makes better business partners than automakers and music-makers? After all, most of us spend our time in the car listening to music. But there is also something about the experience of listening to music and driving a car that is so similar. Maybe they both make us feel free and happy.

It was in this spirit Chrysler teamed up with Interscope Records to air one minute and half-minute videos of various artists during the American Music Awards.

Of course, these weren’t just any artists. Not only are they all extraordinarily talented and popular, they were all born in Detroit: Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Eminem and Phillip Phillips.

The content of these featurettes were culled from the official full-length videos from each artist. “Each artist/song was partnered with a vehicle from one of the automaker’s brands,” according to The Detroit News.
