Two Chrysler Concepts You Need to Remember

Chrysler Concept | Ottawa, IL

Chrysler concept cars have a history of anticipating the future of automotive design and styling, boldly predicting what vehicles could look like and how they could perform. Some concepts were more remarkable than others, and we at Sierra Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram like to look back fondly on them. Here are the two Chrysler concepts that are particular favorites.

Chrysler Thunderbolt Concept

This concept car packed both power and style, boasting a 4.0-liter V8 engine with 270 horsepower and a design concept that incorporated elements from the 1941 Thunderbolt concept car, which this updated concept was named after, alongside futuristic design cues. It was sporty, interestingly elegant, and guaranteed to keep your attention as it zipped around like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Chrysler 300 Concept

For the last couple model years, the only vehicles on offer from Chrysler have been the 300 and the Pacifica/Pacifica Hybrid. The Chrysler 300 Concept was unveiled in 1991, with a low-slung front that swept back to create a curvy front and rear end. The front had a distinctive and stylish oval grill pattern that ended up being incorporated into later Chrysler production cars. Remarkable for its time, the concept also included a sort of early keyless start feature which used a key card and ignition button.

We at Sierra Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are proud to sell vehicles by such an innovative and creative automaker.

Jeep Earns Automotive Difference Maker Award

Automotive Difference Maker award

Every year, The Detroit Free Press gives out the prestigious “Automotive Difference Maker” award. And this publication knows what it’s talking about when it comes to cars. This year, Jeep won the Automotive Difference Maker award.

So why did Jeep take home this honor? Well part of it is because of its impressive sales numbers from this past year. The Detroit Free Press wrote, “Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ recovery from Chapter 11 bankruptcy simply would not have been possible without the rapid global expansion of the Jeep brand.”

FCA has a lot of reasons to thank Jeep. More than 1.2 million Jeep SUVs were sold worldwide in 2015, making it the fourth consecutive year that the brand sold the most vehicles in its history, and its sixth consecutive year of sales increases.

But that’s not the only reason why Jeep won the award; it’s also because of its redesigned Grand Cherokee and brand-new Renegade.

Congratulations, Jeep! Come down to Sierra Motors to test drive a Jeep today to check out what it’s all about.

Tips to Avoid Car Sickness

Tips to avoid car sickness

Road trips can be fun, but many people tend to get nauseous when riding in the car for an extended period of time. If you have a road trip coming up, don’t worry, because we have listed below some tips to avoid car sickness:

  1. Watch your food and drink consumption – If you drink excessive alcohol and foods or liquids, they can worsen motion sickness or even cause it.
  2. Sit in the front seat – Make sure you call “shotgun” because often, motion sickness is caused by a mismatch between what your eyes are seeing and how your body is interpreting the motion of the vehicle.
  3. Avoid reading – Reading, though it’s a good time-consumer during a road trip, can make you more nauseous.
  4. Crack the car window – Fresh air helps alleviate car sickness and reduce any food odors in the car.
  5. Stabilize your head – Try to lean your head against the headrest to keep it still, or use a neck pillow.
  6. Medication and wrist bands – If your motion sickness is uncontrollable, you can get a prescription from your doctor or get a motion sickness wrist band, which puts pressure on a specific spot on your wrist to prevent nausea.

Chrysler 300 Platinum Returns to Ward’s Best Interior List

Every year WardsAuto World puts out their Best Interior List after a few months of testing. On the ballot are vehicles that are new to the United States market, this year amounting to 42. The editor’s test drove the vehicles through the streets of Detroit on daily commutes, taking into account the comfort, safety, value, and much, much more to determine the best of the best.

This year the Chrysler 300 returned to the list after a two year hiatus. The Platinum model had editors raving over the vehicle’s Nappa leather seats, leather-trimmed dash, steering wheel, center console, and the “dramatic and soothing” environment. Also included in the review were the natural-pore wood and the standard 7 inch multi-function display on the instrument panel.

Filling out the list were three sedans, two pickup trucks, two crossovers, two hatchbacks, and a minivan. The variation is new and exciting as all automakers step up their game, increase competition, and deliver the best vehicles possible. By making the list, the Chrysler 300 Platinum proves it’s one of the best.

“In this year’s competition, we saw a lot of evidence that automakers are thinking creatively about interiors and putting a lot of design horsepower into not just luxury vehicles, but pickups, minivans and family sedans. And they are investing more in high-quality trim materials, electronic features and other details that will surprise and delight shoppers,” said Drew Winter, WardsAuto World Editor-in-Chief.
