Jeep Earns Automotive Difference Maker Award

Automotive Difference Maker award

Every year, The Detroit Free Press gives out the prestigious “Automotive Difference Maker” award. And this publication knows what it’s talking about when it comes to cars. This year, Jeep won the Automotive Difference Maker award.

So why did Jeep take home this honor? Well part of it is because of its impressive sales numbers from this past year. The Detroit Free Press wrote, “Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ recovery from Chapter 11 bankruptcy simply would not have been possible without the rapid global expansion of the Jeep brand.”

FCA has a lot of reasons to thank Jeep. More than 1.2 million Jeep SUVs were sold worldwide in 2015, making it the fourth consecutive year that the brand sold the most vehicles in its history, and its sixth consecutive year of sales increases.

But that’s not the only reason why Jeep won the award; it’s also because of its redesigned Grand Cherokee and brand-new Renegade.

Congratulations, Jeep! Come down to Sierra Motors to test drive a Jeep today to check out what it’s all about.

Tips to Avoid Car Sickness

Tips to avoid car sickness

Road trips can be fun, but many people tend to get nauseous when riding in the car for an extended period of time. If you have a road trip coming up, don’t worry, because we have listed below some tips to avoid car sickness:

  1. Watch your food and drink consumption – If you drink excessive alcohol and foods or liquids, they can worsen motion sickness or even cause it.
  2. Sit in the front seat – Make sure you call “shotgun” because often, motion sickness is caused by a mismatch between what your eyes are seeing and how your body is interpreting the motion of the vehicle.
  3. Avoid reading – Reading, though it’s a good time-consumer during a road trip, can make you more nauseous.
  4. Crack the car window – Fresh air helps alleviate car sickness and reduce any food odors in the car.
  5. Stabilize your head – Try to lean your head against the headrest to keep it still, or use a neck pillow.
  6. Medication and wrist bands – If your motion sickness is uncontrollable, you can get a prescription from your doctor or get a motion sickness wrist band, which puts pressure on a specific spot on your wrist to prevent nausea.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Releases Arsenal of Democracy Documentary

Arsenal of Democracy

World War II may have occurred over 70 years ago, but the memory of the war continues to haunt, terrify, and fascinate the minds of the general public. Countless books, documentaries, movies, television shows, and more have been created based on the tragic conflict. For the automobile industry, the war was not only a major factor in the innovation of new technology, but also the cause of a nationwide halt in the production of civilian vehicles following President Roosevelt’s famous Arsenal of Democracy speech. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was one of many car manufacturers that stopped production of civilian cars in order to make contributions to the production of war materials, and recently, FCA announced the release of a short documentary about the time period.

Named “Arsenal of Democracy” after Roosevelt’s words, the documentary covers Chrysler’s involvement with the creation of military vehicles. Though the Axis powers laughed at Roosevelts’ production goals, auto manufacturers still managed to accomplish them. Detroit alone managed to create 10% of the tools used in the second World War. The sheer number of military tools produced during that time period had never been seen before — or since.

The documentary was released in honor of the 75th anniversary of Roosevelts’ Arsenal of Democracy speech. The six-minute feature, narrated by historian Brandt Rosenbusch, provides viewers with a closer look at the war vehicles FCA crafted during one of history’s most dramatic production pushes.

Chrysler to Debut New Town & Country Minivan in Detroit

New Town & Country Minivan

Rumors have the new 2016 Town and Country coming out later this year!

While other automakers focus on the increasingly competitive SUV and crossover segment, Chrysler is focusing its efforts on the small but consistent niche market for minivans — specifically, the new Town & Country minivan set to debut at the prolific North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Reports say the 2017 Town & Country will be launched at dealerships sometime early 2016, though no official date has yet been confirmed.

Chrysler’s reasoning behind releasing a new minivan is simply that it now has a complete monopoly over the market. There are still a number of consumers that still want minivans, but they have nowhere else to turn to satisfy their interest in the niche segment, especially after Chrysler follows through on plans to phase out the only other minivan under FCA’s administration, the Dodge Grand Caravan. Chrysler will also be using the new 2017 model year as a testing grounds for their hybrid technology.

The new Town & Country minivan sports a front fascia that resembles the Chrysler 200, as well as a more modern, stylish, and upscale design. While the traditional model is expected in early 2016, the plug-in hybrid variant of the 2017 Town & Country will be released a few months after the initial model’s release.

Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept Inspired by Easter Jeep Safari Event

Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept

There have been many great Jeep models made over the years, but the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock concept may be the best yet!

There may be no larger celebration of all things Jeep than the annual Easter Jeep Safari event, held every year in Moab. In 2016, the event will celebrate its 50th anniversary, and has unveiled the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock concept in celebration at this year’s SEMA. The rough and rugged concept takes its inspiration directly from Moab’s fascinating red rock landscapes.

Bold, intimidating, and capable, the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock concept is based on the already hardcore Hard Rock Wrangler Rubicon, but adds even more aftermarket parts, both from Mopar and other companies, to create the roughest, toughest, and most capable rock-climbing Jeep yet.

According to gizmag.com, some of those additions include 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, a two-inch lift, LED headlamps, a Warn Rubicon winch, a set of 17-inch beadlock wheels, a Jeep-branded CB radio, front and rear differential covers, and a custom interior finish with Amaretto Brown leather and silver stitching.

“The annual Easter Jeep Safari remains one of the most significant events on any Jeep enthusiast’s calendar. We’re extremely grateful to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers for continuing this iconic Jeep event, and we present our Wrangler Red Rock Concept as a tribute to them and the enthusiasts who attend the annual Jeep Safari and support our brand,” stated Mike Manley, Head of the Jeep Brand.

Jeep will produce just 50 units of the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock, which will become available to some very lucky buyers next year. Stop by Sierra Motors Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to learn more, and to test drive any of our exciting and capable Jeep vehicles!
