Chrysler’s Degrees@Work Program Offers Free College Tuition to Its Dealership Employees

Not to be outdone by Starbucks (who announced last month that it would offer free college tuition to its baristas), Chrysler has announced that it too, would offer a four-year college education to any of its 118,000 U.S. dealership employees, for free.

The degrees will be offered to employees as a no-cost benefit, and will include tuition, fees, and even book expenses. The degrees will be offered through Strayer University, which offers bachelor’s degree courses that can be completed entirely online.

“Many of our dealers have expressed concern over the availability of talent to fill open positions due to business growth and turnover in their stores, especially in metro markets,” said Al Gardner, Head of Dealer Network Development, and President & CEO of the Chrysler Brand, FCA US LLC in a news release. “Our goal is to position our dealer network as the ‘employers of choice.’ Our collaboration with Strayer demonstrates our focus on building our dealers’ hard-working employees’ skillsets to help them perform at an optimal level while also investing in their long-term success.”

The program will roll out in phases, beginning with dealerships in Chrysler’s Southeast Business Center, which includes up to 356 Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and FIAT dealerships in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Employees at these dealerships are able to take advantage of the Degrees@Work program today.

“Dealers tell us that education is a benefit frequently-requested by their employees,” Gardner continued. “With the increasing cost of a college education, offering free college degrees without the burden of debt presents a significant value that we are pleased to provide and that differentiates us from our competitors. It will certainly help us attract and retain strong talent.”

Stop by Sierra Chrysler today to meet our knowledgeable and friendly staff. You’ll understand why FCA is working hard to retain its employees.

FCA Foundation Donation Goes to United Way of Rock River Valley

After a wave of tornadoes devastated Boone, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebego counties, the FCA Foundation has stepped up and donated $25,000 to the United Way of Rock River Valley.

Natural disasters that hit so close to home are never expected, and it’s heartwarming to have major companies like FCA pitch in to help out. The generous donation will go directly into the Northern Illinois Disaster Relief Fund in order to help families that were affected by the tornadoes by providing temporary house.

Dominic Ventral, Plant Manager of the Belvedere Assembly Plant in Boone County said, “We recognize that natural disasters can have overwhelming social and economic impact on both individuals and communities. We hope by joining forces with our friends and neighbors we can help families get back on their feet and into their homes quickly.”

Chrysler 300 Platinum Returns to Ward’s Best Interior List

Every year WardsAuto World puts out their Best Interior List after a few months of testing. On the ballot are vehicles that are new to the United States market, this year amounting to 42. The editor’s test drove the vehicles through the streets of Detroit on daily commutes, taking into account the comfort, safety, value, and much, much more to determine the best of the best.

This year the Chrysler 300 returned to the list after a two year hiatus. The Platinum model had editors raving over the vehicle’s Nappa leather seats, leather-trimmed dash, steering wheel, center console, and the “dramatic and soothing” environment. Also included in the review were the natural-pore wood and the standard 7 inch multi-function display on the instrument panel.

Filling out the list were three sedans, two pickup trucks, two crossovers, two hatchbacks, and a minivan. The variation is new and exciting as all automakers step up their game, increase competition, and deliver the best vehicles possible. By making the list, the Chrysler 300 Platinum proves it’s one of the best.

“In this year’s competition, we saw a lot of evidence that automakers are thinking creatively about interiors and putting a lot of design horsepower into not just luxury vehicles, but pickups, minivans and family sedans. And they are investing more in high-quality trim materials, electronic features and other details that will surprise and delight shoppers,” said Drew Winter, WardsAuto World Editor-in-Chief.
