The 2017 Jeep Renegade has the off-road capabilities that will help you let off some steam in the new year, while still offering an on-road style that can’t be ignored.

For 2017, the Renegade subcompact SUV continues to stand out from the competition. Chicago Holiday Shows: See The Nutcracker

chicago holiday shows - the nutcracker - sierra cdjr

The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition, and there are plenty of productions to attend in the Chicago area. This includes the Joffrey Ballet show at the Auditorium Theatre, choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon—who previously worked on Swan Lake and An American in Paris—the annual Nutcracker show has been around since 1987.

According to Chicago-Theater, this production has an award-winning team and the famous Tchaikovsky score will be performed by the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra. Believe it or not, several cast members are Tony Award winners, including Wheeldon. The set design is by the renowned Julian Crouch, and lighting is by Tony-Winner Natasha Katz. Stop by the Roosevelt University’s Auditorium Theatre from now until December 30 for a truly revolutionary show.

What’s The Nutcracker about? Though this show has been a classic since the 1970s, the origins of The Nutcracker are largely unknown. The story became popular thanks to writers like ETA Hoffmann and Alexandre Dumas, and it was later adapted by Maurius Petipa and Lev Ivanov for the ballet. Though initially a flop, the score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was extremely popular. In fact, it is one of the most recognizable tunes in the West.

The most common version of the story follows a poor girl, Marie, as she is presented with a wooden nutcracker by the mysterious Drosselmeyer. With the help of magic, the Nutcracker and Marie battle the Mouse King, visit the Sugar Plum Fairy, and more. One of the best Chicago holiday shows is The Nutcracker at Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University.

Highlights of Our ‘ Choose Your Adventure ’ Jeep Event

choose your adventure

From June until October, Sierra CDJR partnered with The Cliffs in Marseilles, IL, to bring our Jeep customers the event of a lifetime: the opportunity to Choose Your Adventure with us at the Insane Terrain Off Road Park. We picked a day once a month and invited all—yes, all—customers who bought a Jeep from us to join us in traversing the park’s 300 acres of terrain. Needless to say, the day was one of our highlights of the year.

All you needed to do in order to participate was (a) own a Jeep from Sierra CDJR and (b) fill out an RSVP form on our website. We spent the summer and early fall enjoying bonding with our customers, teaching first-timers with an official guide Jeep vehicle and a two-and-a-half-hour special training course, and sharing a free lunch with those who came.

At Sierra CDJR, we are so glad to have been able to provide the Choose Your Adventure opportunity as a token of our appreciation to all Jeep customers. We hope everyone had fun learning about and using their Jeep in The Cliff’s wild off-road park. We hope you’ll even get the great opportunity to venture off-road by yourselves in the future!

Car and Driver Gets a 2017 Wrangler Sneak Peek

Wrangler sneak peek

The Jeep Wrangler is an iconic and legendary mainstay of the automobile market, and it will probably also have a place in the industry thanks to its niche appeal to a cult following. However, insiders question its ability to stay up to date due to an exterior design that increasingly relies on nostalgia, as well as fuel economy numbers that are slowly falling behind the competition. Hopefully, Car and Driver’s Wrangler sneak peek at the new 2017 model will clear up some concerns.

Longtime Jeep fans won’t have to fear the possibility of their beloved Wrangler conforming to more modern design cues, retaining the rugged body-on-frame construction they know and love. However, it does sport a lighter and stronger frame, and parts of the body are rumored to be made from aluminum for an even more dramatic weight loss.

A glimpse at the underside of the 2017 Wrangler unveiled more changes, such as a new suspension and new axles. Car and Driver didn’t get any information on the engine lineup, but they speculate that a diesel engine could eventually make its way under the Wrangler’s hood.

Overall, the Wrangler sneak peek gave us a shot at seeing some of the exterior differences present between the current and upcoming models of the famous nameplate. Whether or not these will make a difference in the specs remains to be seen.

The fall foliage holds some of the most beautiful sights that you can see in Illinois, which is why you should take a drive just to admire it! Here are some of the best fall foliage drives in the Midwest.

Wisconsin River Trail

If you want to take a scenic drive up north, this road is the one to do it on. It’ll take you through hills, woods, and unique towns. Plus, it winds the whole way against the north bank of the Wisconsin River, so the water views will be gorgeous too.

Great River Road at Mississippi Palisades State Park

Head out to the great ol’ west on this route. This road rides alongside another river, the great Mississippi! It’ll also lead you to the gorgeous Palisades State Park, where you can find beautifully cliffs, trees, and even an eagle or two!

Shawnee Hills Wine Trail

The word “wine” is in the name, so it must be included in the list. While the wineries along the way are certainly nice stops (as long as you don’t drink and drive), there are also gorgeous views along this route. You’ll be driving through dense, beautiful woods and bluffs overlooking lakes.

Parke County, Indian Covered Bridges

What’s a crisp, autumn drive without covered bridges? Enjoy the beautiful trees along the curving roads and the classic covered bridges along the way.

How to Change Your Windshield Wipers: A Step-By-Step Process

Change your windshield wipers

If your windshield wipers are in bad shape, they won’t be able to clear your windshield of falling rain and will decrease your visibility in bad weather. So, here’s how to change your windshield wipers when it’s time for new ones!

First, you’ll need to find out what type of wiper-arm mount you have. The three types are hook slot connector, pin type arm, and straight-end connecter. Then follow the appropriate steps below.

Hook Slot Connecter – First, move the blade so it’s sitting straight up. The arm will have a flap that attaches the wiper to the connector. You’ll have to push or pull this, which will release the blade. Do the same to latch the new blade on.

Pin Type Arm – This wiper is very similar to the hook slot connector, except there’s no tab to pull or push. Instead, you’ll find a pin. Press this pin and pull it out to release the blade, and slide it back in to replace the blade. A screwdriver might help in doing this.

Straight-End Connector – You’ll definitely need a screwdriver with this one as it tends to be the most difficult to change. Some of these have a tab you’ll need to release with a screwdriver, and others have a small screw.

Need help? Sierra Motors CDJR is always here to answer your questions, or to change your windshield wiper for you!
