Throwing a Tailgate Party on a Budget
Football season is well underway, and that means you should have had plenty of time to perfect your tailgating game. Just in case you need some tips on dropping the cost for your pre-game parties, here are some tips for having the most fun out of your tailgate party on a budget.
Pro tip #1 – Teamwork is key. Ask your friends to help contribute food, drinks, and supplies to keep costs down. Decide in advance who is in charge of bringing what. Doing so will allow everyone to prepare food at home, instead of buying pre-made snacks and meals, which can get costly.
Pro tip #2 – Don’t buy new. If you need a new grill, tent, table, chairs, or other major supplies ask around. If any of your regular crew owns what you need, see if they mind bringing it along for the games. If not, consider buying used before splurging on brand new equipment.
Pro tip #3 – Take turns driving. If possible, take turns carpooling and driving to the game. This will help to spread the burden of parking costs and gas among everyone in the group. If you don’t want to pay for premium stadium parking, look into other lots in the area. If they aren’t within walking distance, you might be able to find a shuttle or public transportation to get you to the game when the party is over.
